The Mavericks superstar’s admission of on- and off-court frustration might help explain his grouchiness toward officials; now, he must finally address the long-conceded problem.
“Sometimes I don’t feel it’s me. I’m just being out there. I used to have fun, smiling on court, but it’s just been so frustrating. For a lot of reasons not just basketball.” There’s been a noticeable uptick, though, of criticizing Doncic’s referee decorum, or lack thereof. The morning after the Golden State game, ESPN’s Zach Lowe welcomedpodcast interviewee Van Gundy by thanking him for performing “the people’s services” by calling him out on national TV.
Apparently no one has taken time to chart every game, but it wouldn’t be surprising if Doncic, No. 2 in scoring average leads the league in kvetches-per-100-possessions.
