The Met Office has warned of 'significant disruption in the build up to New Year', particularly on the west coast - here's how the severe weather alert affects your Hogmanay plans.
Heavy rain is set to bring ‘significant disruption’ to Glasgow and the surrounding areas in the run-up to New Year’s Day.
The severe weather alert covers much of Scotland, including Glasgow, Argyll and Bute, East, North and South Ayrshire, North and South Lanarkshire, East and West Dunbartonshire, Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire and Inverclyde - with the west coast highlighted as a particular concern.“Rain is likely to become persistent and occasionally heavy on Monday and possibly last through New Year's Eve.
“Snow may present an additional hazard, especially in the north of Scotland and over high ground. Strong winds could also bring further disruption, particularly on Tuesday.” We recently reported that temperatures are set to plummet next week, in time for the start of 2025 - however the forecast for New Year’s Day has been updated to show more rain and perhaps even some snow on the way.
