Star Trek: Strange New Worlds actor Bruce Horak shares his whimsical fan art of his character, the late Lieutenant Hemmer, and the Gorn. Hemmer was the Chief Engineer of the USS Enterprise in Strange New Worlds season 1. The blind Aenar heroically sacrificed himself to save his crewmates when he was infected by baby Gorn in Strange New Worlds season 1, episode 9, "All Those Who Wander."
On his Instagram, Bruce Horak posted his own fan art of Hemmer with the Gorn. Horak, who is a very talented artist, has created a few odes for Hemmer and his alien reptilian killers. But in Bruce's renditions, the Gorn and Hemmer have come friends. Horak's wistful art also evokes how the Aenar is absent from Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2. SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Will Hemmer Return In Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2? In Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2, Captain Christopher Pike's Starship Enterprise has a new Chief Engineer, Commander Pelia . An eccentric and extremely long-lived Lanthanite, Pelia was a Starfleet Academy instructor who taught Hemmer engineering.
The popularity of Lt. Hemmer was one of Strange New Worlds season 1's big surprises. Hemmer, one of the Star Trek prequel's original characters, was always slated to die to establish stakes in a series stacked with legacy characters known to survive into Star Trek: The Original Series. But no one quite expected Hemmer to become as popular as he was, and his heroic death was one of Strange New Worlds season 1's most heartbreaking moments.
