The storm has already brought widespread flooding to areas like New York and New Jersey.
the storm will still bring dangerous levels of storm surge, flooding, strong winds and heavy rainfall to New England, New York and New Jersey.... [+]The entire coastline from Manasquan Inlet, New Jersey, through Chatham, Massachusetts, is under a tropical storm warning, including Long Island and New York City, as well as Block Island in Rhode Island and Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts, but a previous hurricane warning for some of those areas has been canceled.
A storm surge warning is also in effect from New York up to Massachusetts, which the NHC means “there is a danger of life-threatening inundation” with most areas facing potentially three to five feet of storm surge. Henri is projected to bring approximately three to six inches of rain in most areas through Monday, though isolated totals of up to 10 inches are possible along with “considerable” flooding.Once it makes landfall, Henri is forecast to turn north and make its way over southern New England, though the NHC notes “rapid weakening” is likely once the storm makes it onto land.
sees Henri traveling north through Massachusetts to Vermont and New Hampshire through early Monday morning before turning east toward Maine through Tuesday.“Don't sleep on this storm just because it was downgraded to a [tropical storm]; the expected impacts remain the same!” the National Weather Service in Boston
