Mission: Impossible - Fallout's helicopter chase scene was the toughest of Henry Cavill's career. 'It was just having to suck it up and do that for at least two weeks.'
Henry Cavill reveals that filming one particular sequence from the climax of Mission: Impossible – Fallout is the hardest thing he's done in his acting career. Released in 2018, Mission: Impossible – Fallout is the sixth film in the cinematic franchise overall, which began in 1996. The movie is directed by Christopher McQuarrie and follows superspy Ethan Hunt as he attempts to stop a terrorist known as John Lark from detonating a nuclear weapon.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Among the newcomers in Mission: Impossible – Fallout is Cavill as August Walker, a brash but lethal CIA assassin who at first appears to be on Hunt's side when it comes to catching Lark and securing the nuclear weapons. In a shocking reveal, however, Walker turns out to be the real Lark, setting him on a collision course with Hunt.
“[E]ven though it's not a single shot, it's a sequence, and I love this sequence and I would do it again in a heartbeat, but physically the most enduring […] was a ‘Mission: Impossible’ helicopter sequence. It was so extremely cold, literally above the Southern Alps in winter, with the doors open on a helicopter. I'm sticking my face into the wind and firing blanks, with all sorts of stuff flying back at me, and just doing it over, and over, and over again.
Could Henry Cavill Return In The Mission: Impossible Franchise? While Cavill's character very clearly dies during Mission: Impossible – Fallout's final moments when he takes a hook to the face and falls off a cliff, the spy technology in the franchise means that fans may not have seen the last of Lark just yet. Now a staple of the Mission: Impossible franchise, characters like Hunt can craft highly-realistic masks to assume the identity of just about anyone.
The Mission: Impossible franchise has featured a number of standout villains over the last 25 years, but Cavill's character in Mission: Impossible – Fallout is one of the most memorable. Not only is the character cunning with a clear goal, but Cavill's physicality makes Lark even more of a threat, with Cruise's Hunt appearing physically outmatched for one of the first times in the franchise.
