Would you milk snake venom to help people around the world? 🐍

It is not for the faint of heart to milk the world's most dangerous snakes. If you're from the United States, you're probably not terrified of snakes because snake bites aren't that prevalent there. In fact, they aren't usually fatal. However, between 4.5 and 5.4 million snake bites occur each year, with 1.8 to 2.7 million of those resulting in disease, and that at least 81,000 to 138,000 people die from snake bites each year.

A snakebite is an injury caused by a snake's bite, particularly a venomous snake's bite. This can result in redness, swelling, and intense pain at the area, as well as vomiting, blurred vision, tingling of the limbs, and sweating. Needless to say, it can be incredibly dangerous. In this video by the YouTube channel Veritasium, you can see how workers at the Australian Reptile Park milk snakes and spiders so they can use their venom to make antivenom and save lives. If you're curious to know more, make sure you watch the video above, and as always, enjoy.Stay ahead with the latest science, technology and innovation news, for free:
