While Cuyahoga County remains one of the few consistently Democrat counties in Ohio, the answer is not as simple as blue or red for one-fifth of the county.
From top left, clockwise: Republican Gov. Mike DeWine , Democratic nominee for governor Nan Whaley , Republican U.S. Senate nominee J.D. Vance , Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Tim Ryan .CLEVELAND, Ohio -
Most of the split vote went to re-elect Gov. Mike DeWine, with 22% of the county opting to keep him in the office while rejecting Republican J.D. Vance for the U.S. Senate in favor of Democrat Tim Ryan. These precincts were mostly in the far east side of the county, and southwestern suburbs. For the rest of Cuyahoga County, 66% of the precincts voted for both Democrat candidates, and 10% voted for both Republicans. This also means that nearly a third of the county voted for at least one Republican candidate.
Meanwhile, Ryan amassed more than two-thirds of the precincts in Cuyahoga County and at considerably larger margins than Vance could obtain.
