Hess Toy Truck is the last vestige of the Hess retail operation, which has Jersey roots.
In 1964, he introduced the Hess toy truck — an oil tanker that came with a funnel.
The toys, which took different forms — spaceships, firetrucks, dragsters and motorcycles among them — became a holiday tradition over the decades. Customers picked the trucks up for their kids and grandkids, often when they didn’t even need gas.But the 2022 Hess truck, which includes 42 lights, is meant to be a throwback to Leon Hess, who died in 1999.The flatbed truck has a pull-out ramp.
