I grew up seeing the marvels of our transportation system — planes flying overhead en route to Newark International Liberty Airport; barges coming up the Arthur Kill; the historic train station in the city center; and the 440 highways that cross through town and connect to the Outerbridge Crossing. I loved how it was possible to get to the same place via different modes of transportation. And, I wanted to figure out how it all worked, leading to my passion for engineering.
Being able to pursue a career to help improve N.J.’s transportation system in a way that considers the environment and vulnerable communities like my hometown of Perth Amboy makes me happy.Talk to strangers. Go to conferences and seminars. Engineering is a constantly growing field and solutions to our everyday issues are in constant discussion.
