The TUI flight bound for the UK was all set for take-off but was diverted away from the runway at the last minute.
Holidaymakers travelling from Mexico back to the UK faced an 'horrendous' ordeal recently after two illegal Russian passengers were found on board, meaning the plane had to be grounded for hours. Anna-Marie Watters was just one of the people on the TUI flight which had to stop on the runway and return to the gate after the two illegal passengers were detected.
Anna-Marie says the captain informed those on board that two passengers were flying illegally, with no visa or paperwork to allow them entry into the UK, and had to be ejected from the plane. Anna-Marie says the pilot came out to speak to the passengers but they were left for two hours on the stationary plane at the terminal.She says an announcement was then made that a suspicious package had been located on the plane and they were investigating what it was.
"It took about fifteen minutes before they reassured us it was an 'e-cig' but in that time people were very scared and wondered why we were not being taken off the plane.Anna-Marie says they were left unnerved for the remainder of the 10-hour flight."We should never have been put in that situation. Serious questions need to be asked to check-in and security."
