A prominent Hollywood attorney reportedly paid off more than $2 million of Hunter Biden's delinquent taxes.
Kevin Morris, who is most renowned for crafting a $550 million licensing deal for the co-creators of South Park, is now part of the legal and media strategy team of President Joe Biden's son as he awaits the outcome of a federal investigation into his finances and potential foreign lobbying violations.
Morris's office and Hunter Biden's attorney Christopher Clark confirmed to CBS News on Monday the Hollywood attorney is part of Biden's legal team. Morris is also helping develop a documentary on Biden's life, a Democratic source told the outlet. In March, the New York Times reported that Biden had taken out a loan to repay $1 million in back taxes. The paper suggested that Biden may have paid back his delinquent taxes to earn leniency from juries and judges, who may be more sympathetic to defendants who have already paid their bills.
Morris is also reportedly conducting an investigation to determine how a copy of Hunter Biden's laptop entered the public domain. Hunter reportedly dropped off his laptop to be fixed at a computer repair shop in Delaware in April 2019 but failed to retrieve the laptop after repairs were completed. The owner of the shop, John Paul Mac Isaac, eventually provided copies of the computer to the FBI and to a lawyer for former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who later distributed copies of the drive to the media."Certainly, there could be a laptop out there that was stolen from me," he told CBS News in April 2021.
