Another resident echoed the claims and said that one road in the area is referred to as 'The Strip'
The South Belfast area is a hotspot for anti-social behaviour in the city with local residents complaining of disorder throughout the year which includes hundreds of people having street parties until the early hours of the morning.
Those living in the area say that it is being advertised to students as "being like Ibiza" or somewhere that they are able to party freely, while other areas of Belfast such as Stranmillis are sold to them as "Lourdes".Residents have also claimed that one road is being referred to as "The Strip", which they believe is encouraging anti-social behaviour.
Speaking to Belfast Live, one resident said: "I was recently talking to one of the landlords in the Holyland who was asking me about why I was living in the area. "They told me that when they are speaking to students about what accommodation they want during the term time that they say 'If you want Ibiza you can live in the Holyland and if you want Lourdes then go to Stranmillis'.
"I was shocked when I heard this and it shows why we have such a problem with anti-social behaviour in the area, it is being sold to people as somewhere you can go wild and party all you like."They said: "We also have issues where people are being told they are able to bring their cars and park wherever they like despite there not being the space here for them to do so.
