The community and the family of Arbery, 25, saw the note, which drew national media attention, as a potential sign of new evidence, said James “Major” Woodall, Georgia state president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People . More two months after the Feb. 23 slaying, a white former law enforcement officer and his son, who were seen on the video chasing the 25-year-old jogger, were arrested last week and charged with aggravated assault and murder.
The two suspects, Gregory McMichael, 64, and his son Travis, 34, were arrested and charged on May 7, after the local district attorney asked the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to probe the case.
