Tom Glynn-Carney, who plays Aegon in HouseOfTheDragon, can't wait to cause more chaos in season 2 of the Game of Thrones spinoff. 'I'm looking forward to having Aegon have a lot more meat to get his teeth stuck into and to cause more havoc...'
Aegon actor Tom Glynn-Carney is excited to see his character wreak havoc in House of the Dragon season 2. An essential House of the Dragon character, Aegon is the son of Viserys and Alicent . His birth represented a threat to Rhaenyra 's claim to the throne despite the king's steadfast support of her as his heir. Played by Ty Tennant as a teenager, the role of Aegon was taken over by Tom Glynn-Carney in season 1, episode 8, "The Lord of the Tides," after a six-year time jump.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY As reported by EW, Glynn-Carney spoke about his character's House of the Dragon season 2 future at HBO's inaugural Game of Thrones Fan Convention in Los Angeles, teasing a larger role for Aegon. The actor teased the "strenuous" nature of season 2, saying that he and his co-stars are training hard to get their bodies in "good enough condition" for the upcoming season.
"I'm looking forward to having Aegon have a lot more meat to get his teeth stuck into and to cause more havoc, really, and to throw a spanner in the works, which he does so well."Aegon's Role In House of the Dragon Season 2 Explained In House of the Dragon season 1, Aegon often expresses his reluctance to uphold his responsibilities as the king's son, with his mother Alicent often pressuring him through verbal and physical means to abide by his duties and follow her agenda.
Though Rhaenyra's status as heir preceded Aegon's role as the king's firstborn son, Alicent was often seen thinking ahead in the fantasy show, worrying that her son's existence posed a threat to Rhaenyra that could put her family in danger as well as craving the control that would come with her milquetoast son in power. Things came to a head when Alicent installed her eldest son on the Iron Throne in the wake of Viserys' death, despite his many flaws.
Glynn-Carney's comments indicate that Aegon will continue to be a wild card in House of the Dragon season 2, perhaps by ignoring his mother's commands and those of his council to pursue his own interests. The HBO series has already made changes from the novel by George R.R. Martin, which may mean that Aegon will become a more central figure in the wars to come in the series.
