Around the world, deadly attacks on houses of worship took place with relentless frequency in 2019. The worst onslaught came on Easter Sunday in Sri Lanka, where about 260 people were killed in coordinated attacks on three churches.

“They were stories of those who were born here, grew up here, or who had made New Zealand their home. A 60-year-old woman was killed; an 8-year-old girl and two men, including the Chabad of Poway’s rabbi, were wounded.
The attack occurred exactly six months after 11 people were killed at a Pittsburgh synagogue in the deadliest assault on Jews in U.S. history.
