Coach Andy Reid said the Chiefs still possessed enough speed to run the same plays effectively. And he said Kansas City has become less focused on dialing up plays designed to beat specific coverages because opponents were behaving in ways they hadn’t shown against other opponents, instead saving their wrinkles for the Chiefs.
Whatever the case, these Chiefs are not the 2016 Falcons or 2013 Broncos or any other team. They strategically funneled resources away from Hill, one of their three best players not named Mahomes, in the name of a more sustainable future, without sacrificing the present.
