My advice for women in tech or women that are starting in tech would be to speak up at all possible opportunities. You have a valuable voice that needs to be heard. We’re often trained to sit on the sidelines and allow others with more experience, or more power, to speak. If you have a well-formed opinion, make sure that it gets heard, even if you may be convinced someone else’s solution would work better.
Networking is also crucial, not only for your career but for meeting other women in the space that can assist in career development. Make trusted connections both in your company and outside by attending industry events and professional platforms likeOwning your uniqueness and be confident with who you are and what you can achieve. Just because you don’t think or act like everyone else doesn’t mean you are wrong or less worthy.
Understand and manage the difference between your circle of concern, your circle of influence and your circle of control is crucial to thriving in not just the tech industry but in life. Be proactive and focus on the things you can do something about, instead of worrying about things you cannot.
