The colorful new artwork at MOCA-Jacksonville's Project Atrium is huge, but it fits into the back of a Toyota Prius.

“We wanted to make something that’s soft and accessible,” said Felici Asteinza, one of the artists who was installing the piece last week.

All of the fabric was hand-painted with a pattern that seems to move, even when it isn’t moving. It can be viewed from the ground floor, which is where the tent is, or from anywhere on the twin staircases that rise on either side of the atrium. Inspiration for the tent, which is filled with beanbag chairs and an old electronic organ they found for free on Facebook Marketplace, came from Filastre’s childhood.
