Sgt. Scott Saunders was put on administrative leave because of an incident that happened in another community, according to Chief John Dunn, who is also serving as acting town manager. Dunn added that the incident did not happen during the officer's working hours. Saunders' administrative leave will continue until a conclusion is reached in the criminal court matter. The chief did not specify the nature of the incident.
Saunders was arrested on Monday, July 24, on a charge of assault and battery on a person who's at least 60 years old and has a disability, causing injury, according to Pembroke police records. The incident, initially reported as a disturbance, took place on Grace Ann Road before noon.The Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission has been notified of the situation.
