Kenya's popular tourist national parks, reserves and conservancies are some of the worst-affected places with hundreds of wildlife deaths recorded
HUNDREDS OF animals have died in Kenya as the country faces its worst drought in decades, according to a shocking report.
The devastation to wildlife comes as East Africa continues to face its worst drought in decades, which is being further exacerbated by climate change, rising international food and fuel prices and the impact of the pandemic. Kenya’s minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage Peninah Malonza said at the launch of the report, several steps were being taken to save the lives of the animals by digging boreholes and taking water to dried up areas. Some parts of Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia have experienced consecutive seasons with inadequate rain, which has caused devastation to millions of people, as well as farmers, crops, wildlife and livestock.
