Hunter Biden stepped down from the board of a Chinese-backed private equity company and has vowed to cease all foreign work should his father, Joe Biden, be elected president in 2020.
Hunter, the second son of former vice president Joe Biden, announced through his attorney Sunday that his father was"personally uninvolved" in all of his business dealings. Mesires wrote that"at no time has any law enforcement agency, either domestic or foreign, alleged that Hunter" participated in any illegal corporate behavior.
Attorney Mesires noted that Hunter will stop any foreign work should Biden win the 2020 presidential election. Mesires stated that Hunter has not received compensation for being on the board of directors with BHR Equity Investment Fund Management Company, which has recently been the obsessive focus of Giuliani during cable news appearances in which he has offered no evidence of wrongdoing. BHR is backed by several Chinese state-owned companies and Trump has accused him, without evidence, of walking away with $1.5 billion based on a pre-2014 fundraising target.
