A Huntsville police officer who was wounded in the line of duty after being shot has been released from a hospital.
The Huntsville Police Department said Sgt. Kyle Dockery was released from a hospital Wednesday and has returned home to Huntsville.
A short reception for Dockery, his family, and all local first responders was held at the Huntsville Police Department the same day.“Chief Slaven and the entire department would like to thank everyone that attended, along with everyone that has supported Kyle and the Huntsville Police Department during this time,” the department said.Dockery was wounded in a shooting on Oct.
After the police contacted the suspect at an apartment, there was an exchange of gunfire. The suspect was shot and pronounced dead at the scene. An officer, later identified as Dockery, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to a hospital where he underwent surgery to address his injuries. “Several Huntsville Police Officers were at the scene when Kyle was shot and all acted heroically,” the department said. “One of those officers, Cpl. John French, returns to work tomorrow, and we are thankful for his return as well.”
