Up to 40mm of rainfall is expected along with 'disruptive winds'
A new Met Office map shows the four areas 'at risk' of Hurricane Kirk disruption with heavy wind and rain set to batter the UK next week.
However, it will no longer be classified as a hurricane by the time it reaches northwest Europe. The latest Met Office map suggests that areas including England, Wales, southeast Scotland, and east Northern Ireland are at risk of disturbance, with expected rainfall ranging from 20 to 40mm in some locations.However most of England and Wales will likely be battered by heavy rain, with 'disruptive winds' also likely if Kirk tracks over the UK next week, the M.E.N reports.
"There remains much detail to work out on the exact track and timing of the system. Across the UK, parts of England and Wales look to have the greatest risk of heavy rain and strong winds during Wednesday and Thursday. Strong winds and heavy rainfall could be on the cards during a period that is set to be "mostly unsettled," according to the forecaster.
