A police shooting on Interstate 15 shut down southbound traffic near Layton on Wednesday morning.
One person is in custody, the Layton Police Department posted on social media, and no officers were injured.
Two lanes of 1-15 southbound, between mile marker 332 and 333 in Davis County are now open, according to Sgt. Cameron Roden with the Utah Highway Patrol. He said it could be until at least 11 a.m. before before all lanes are open again. It’s unclear if the person taken into custody was injured. The events leading up to the police shooting also remain unclear. A request for more information from the Layton Police Department on Wednesday morning wasn’t immediately returned.
This marked the 17th police shooting in Utah so far this year, according to a database maintained by The Salt Lake Tribune.
