"I decided I wanted to be a doctor at a very young age," She said."Stories have it that at six years old, I made the declaration.""My parents served as my role models. They instilled in my sister and I this idea that if we put our minds to something, it might be difficult but we could do it," She said.
"All the extra noise that sometimes comes from being an 'only,' you either hear it and keep going or you hear it and get stopped by it," She said."I chose to hear it and be aware of it but keep going."
