Just a 10p-sized amount was all it took
A student says he was told by doctors he could have been put into a coma if he had used a popular brand of hair dye on his head.
Through a process of trial and error, the 27-year-old says he's been able to figure out it's ingredients like paraphenylenediamine and ammonia, found in most dyes, that can spark off a reaction. Due to his unpredictable allergy to certain products, Jack, from Thornton-Cleveleys, says he often carries out patch tests for new products.
The law student says he'd thought by doing a small patch test on his arm he would be able to mitigate a large reaction, instead he was forced to go to A&E. "I had to go to the walk in centre at Fleetwood as well for the blisters. They had to drain them and wrap them in iodine plasters and bandages," He added. "The doctors told me, if I'd have put that on my head I would've likely been put into an induced coma because of the pain, I wouldn't have been able to cope with it."
