The girl Amy Winehouse 'wanted to adopt', Dannika Augustin, is now in her twenties, and says she still thinks about the tragic singer every day, more than 12 years after her death
The girl who Amy Winehouse reportedly wanted to adopt believes she could have saved the tragic singer if she'd been with her.
The two formed a deep connection during Amy's last year alive in the beautiful St Lucia, and it's reported that the Back to Black singer was making plans to bring Dannika back to London before her tragic passing. "We would play games and laugh and do funny stuff. Amy would sing or play music and I would dance next to her. She was always hugging me and showed me so much love. She would call me 'daughter' and tell me how adorable I was."
Amy had arranged a flight to visit the young girl and reportedly engaged lawyers to explore the adoption process just days before her plans were tragically halted by her sudden death from alcohol poisoning on 23 July, 2011, at the tender age of 27. She had been given the all-clear by doctors just hours previously.
