Andrew Maddocks has been employed with British Gas for more than 40 years, and he's now sharing the secret to his career longevity
These days, there aren’t too many people who stay in the same job for more than 40 years, but for Hazel Grove born-and-bred Andrew Maddocks, British Gas has provided a job for life.
"I chose the apprenticeship because my father was a joiner and I always felt I wanted to go into a practical role. There was quite a large group of apprentices when I joined, and we really felt like a family from day one. "As my career progressed, I was promoted to technical support manager and then service manager. Ultimately, I decided that I loved being 'on the tools' so much, meeting customers face to face and helping them, that I decided to return to an engineering role, and I’ve never looked back.
