After spending six years as one of the top players in UA history, Palomino-Cardoza is serving as a volunteer coach for the Ducks.

PJ Brown Special to the Arizona Daily Star Following Friday's and Saturday's Arizona-Oregon softball games, Alyssa Palomino-Cardoza took photos at home plate with former teammate Jessie Harper and one of her former coaches, Caitlin Lowe. She said her return to Hillenbrand Stadium was special.

The No. 25-ranked Wildcats will take on UTEP in a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon starting at 2 p.m. at Hillenbrand."I love 'Lyss.' I miss her a lot and it’s very weird to see her on the other side, but you know what? It doesn’t change the fact that I love her as my teammate and as a person,” Netz said.

One of her biggest hits came in last season's NCAA Super Regionals. Down 1-0 at Arkansas, Palomino-Cardoza crushed a two-run home run over the left-field fence to help the Wildcats beat the Razorbacks and make it back to the WCWS. "We want to be a winning team, a winning program and that's what it was like here ,” she said."It means being tough but being able to have fun. That’s the same goal we have."
