When I pulled Cake Beauty's The Curl Friend out of my bag full of many Best of Beauty products, I wasn't sure what to think, partially because I'd never heard of the Toronto-based brand, which just launched in the U.S. last November. But it turns out that this is probably the best thing to come out of Canada sinceThe Curl Friend is a light and airy cream, which has a great consistency.
I added the product in as I would normally with any wash-and-go. I style my hair using the L.C.O. method: L meaning starting with a water-based leave-in , C for a styling cream, which was The Curl Friend, and O for oil. I like to use a light one, either almond or grapeseed.The product really did what it had to do. My curls were defined but didn't lose their volume, shrink more than usual, or look flat, which can happen with some curl definers.
