Michael Ball tackles the big issues following Everton's dramatic late collapse to lose 3-2 against Bournemouth
We were all left really angry with how it ended for Everton against Bournemouth but what frustrated me more was Sean Dyche ’s comments. Some of his post-match remarks so far this season have really baffled me.
There have been question marks over Dyche’s substitutions ever since he came to the football club. It didn’t seem to be his strong point at Burnley either. As soon as Ndiaye went off, Bournemouth could go 10 yards further up the pitch and keep the pressure on Everton because the threat to score goals was gone.
That’s where I used to play. I’d get shouted at if I let a cross in, even if it wasn’t my fault, because it was my area, my part of the pitch. Dyche stood there witnessing a collapse but he could have helped his players by making some decisions and making them faster.Going forward, Everton’s players have got to somehow remember the 80 odd minutes that they played great football. They’ve got to keep that belief of playing for each other.
However, our lack of ruthlessness has proven costly for many years. When we’re doing well, we seem to think that things are easy and we don’t punish opponents as other than the Brighton away game a couple of seasons ago, we don’t tend to get the high scores.
