Drug trafficker was previously cleared of murder of Ashley Dale after council worker was shot dead in own home
Ian Fitzgibbon has admitted drug offences in relation to encrypted communications platform EncroChat, but disputes that he was involved in the supply of 50kg of heroin.
Alex Langhorn, prosecuting, told the court that there had been an "indication in interview that there was to be a dispute as to the amount" of drugs which had been supplied. Defence counsel Donal McGuire said this was in relation to an indication that messages exchanged via EncroChat had shown his involvement in the supply of up to 50kg of heroin.
James Witham, Joseph Peers, Niall Barry and Sean Zeisz were all convicted of Ms Dale's murder in November last year following a trial before the same court. The 28-year-old council worker was shot dead in her own home on Leinster Road in Old Swan in the early hours of August 21 2022.
