The Friends of the Oakland Public Library will host their annual Fall Book Sale from Oct. 20 through Oct. 22 at The Bookmark Bookstore in Old Oakland. All proceeds from the sale will benefit Oakland’s public libraries.In brief: Sept. 27, Oct. 5 meetings to discuss Piedmont’s rising crime rate
The sale will coincide with National Friends of Libraries Week, a weeklong celebration of U.S. library groups and the work they do to support their local libraries. The Bookmark Bookstore is a nonprofit used bookstore owned and operated by the FOPL and staffed by volunteers. Under the direction of Oakland hills resident Pamm Drake, the group of 60 tap dancers, ranging in age from 13 to 76, come from Dance 10 Performing Arts Center in Alameda.
