"I've been in therapy for six years. That has been a huge, huge part of my growth as a person in so many ways, and that’s my most regular, bi-weekly. I've done a lot of work to deal with past disordered eating and my relationship with food. And luckily that happened, because the pandemic has really changed my body and my relationship with food in a way that could have been really negative and detrimental," he admits.
"I hear from people all the time who say, 'I just want to thank you. I've been in recovery from an eating disorder and you're one of the only food people who I can follow because you only express joy around food. You don't include the stress that can come along with it,'" he explains. "I think people get that it's not because I don't have that [stress myself], but it's because I make an explicit decision not to include it.
Pelosi adds that had his recent success and his self-love journey not aligned, he may be walking a very different path. "This is exactly when this was supposed to happen for me, and I am very lucky that whatever I have to offer is helpful to people, because I don't think it would have been if this had happened five or 10 or 15 years ago," he says.
