Elsewhere, firefighters were battling a 46-acre blaze near the Mariposa Grove in Yosemite National Park.
JACKSON – Containment of the Electra Fire burning along the Amador-Calaveras county line jumped to 60% Thursday night, but local residents can expect to see increased smoke as firefighters work to “strengthen and reinforce” containment lines, Cal Fire said.
“Ultimately what this does is it speeds up the process to get everybody home in more of a timely manner,” Trindade said. “While residents feel alarmed seeing the increased smoke in the area, the Electra Fire Incident Command Team does not anticipate any issues, and the Electra Incident has sufficient air and ground resources available to respond to any concerns that may arise,” the agency said.near the lower portion of the Mariposa Grove in Yosemite National Park. In a statement issued shortly before 5:30 p.m. Thursday, the park said the fire had burned 5 to 8 acres.
As of 7 p.m. Thursday, the Electra Fire had consumed 4,272 acres, said Cal Fire spokesperson Jas Shaw.
