Paul Clifford was performing at the iconic venue when he popped the question to partner Lorraine Brown
The lead singer of a tribute band asked his girlfriend to marry him during a sell-out show at Glasgow's Barrowland Ballroom. Paul Clifford, originally from Dumbarton, was performing with The James Experience Born of Frustration at the iconic venue when he popped the question to his partner of six and a half years, Lorraine Brown.
"I was very nervous. When the gig came up and it was getting closer, I thought that this was definitely the time to propose because all my family and friends will be there. Paul explained: "The crowd went absolutely mad. I hardly got the words out, I was probably going to elaborate a wee bit more, but the crowd were so loud. So I just left it at 'do you want to stop being my girlfriend and be my wife?' and everyone went totally mad."
"Tears of joy from all the children. They are all really pleased because they get on really well, which is important. That genuinely was one of the best days of my life."
