Hopkins said he is running because there’s still work to be done to put Alaska on the right foot for the future.
FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Democrat Grier Hopkins is running for seat 34 in the Alaska House.
He said he is running because there’s still work to be done to put Alaska on the right foot for the future. “We’ve done great work so far protecting against raids on the Permanent Fund, protecting Alaska’s fiscal future and working across party lines in a bipartisan coalition that’s put Alaska first, but we still have a lot of work to do to put forth a long-term fiscal plan, strengthen our economy, and make sure that our families and neighborhoods have the tools they need to continue to succeed.
Hopkins said the Permanent Fund needs to be protected from raids in order for Alaska to have a strong future.
Hopkins said his record is pro-education, pro-jobs and pro-economy. “Most importantly, it’s not worrying about what party we’re part of. If we’re able to work across those party lines and work with Democrats, Republicans and Independents, then it’s amazing what we can accomplish. I went down to Juneau four years ago to work under the motto ‘It’s amazing what we can accomplish when we don’t worry about who gets credit.’”Copyright 2022 KTVF. All rights reserved.
