Michigan Rep. Justin Amash, a former Republican turned independent, voted with House Democrats to approve a resolution to formalize the procedures of the impeachment inquiry into President Trump.
The final vote on the resolution was 232-196, passing largely on party lines. Amash, who left the Republican Party in July, joined his Democratic colleagues to support the resolution, which outlines the procedural details for how the House will move its impeachment inquiry into its next phase. "This president will be in power for only a short time, but excusing his misbehavior will forever tarnish your name," Amash tweeted before the vote.
