Strong 6.5 magnitude earthquake kills at least three people in Indonesia's remote Maluku islands
The national disaster mitigation agency said two other people had been killed and three others injured, but authorities are still gathering information about them.
The strong magnitude 6.5 earthquake hit off the remote Maluku islands, but no tsunami warning was issued. "I was asleep with my family when suddenly the house started to shake," an AFP reporter in Ambon said. Indonesia experiences frequent seismic and volcanic activity due to its position on the Pacific "Ring of Fire", where tectonic plates collide.
