The boy's injuries were consistent with contact with a high voltage of electricity, police said
Jack Piper-Sheach was found unresponsive inside Tiffany’s Hotel on the Promenade in Blackpool on the evening of Sunday, September 3. His injuries were consistent with contact with a high voltage of electricity, police said.
The 10-year-old died four days later surrounded by his family in hospital in Liverpool. Police said the injuries to the boy, reportedly from Wales, were consistent with him having received a “high voltage of electricity”.Blackpool Coroner’s Court has now published details of the inquest opening, to be held on Friday afternoon before Coroner Alan Wilson. Lancashire Police said following an initial investigation the matter has now been passed to the local authority.
Blackpool Council has said in a statement the investigation is ongoing. Tiffany’s Hotel, a short distance north of the Blackpool Tower on the seafront, has been closed since the incident. Following Jack’s death, a spokesman for the hotel said they will assist any investigation and passed on condolences to the boy’s family.
