Insecure jobs double for Black workers TUC call for an end to the gig economy, as new figures show racial bias
THE NUMBER of Black workers exploited in the gig economy has doubled under the Tories, new figures reveal.
The data underlines how the cost of living crisis is significantly worse for people of colour due to structural racism in employment. “The massive and disproportionate concentration of BME workers in insecure work – like in the gig economy – is structural racism in action. “These barriers lead to stark inequalities – and it’s why we’re seeing BME workers disproportionately in the worst jobs with the worst pay and conditions.
