The charity host weekly drop-in sessions, including a bereavement café, in a bid to make a difference in the community.
A charity located in the heart of Ayr is helping to address growing numbers of those needing support for mental health problems, loss and loneliness by offering hope.
The 60 volunteers, who dedicate their time and lend their skills to help those who need it most in the community, are made up of trained listeners, befrienders, counsellors and mental health workers. Elaine said: “People are dealing with huge issues in relation to bereavement, loss, mental health issues- and the NHS cannot possibly deal with all that, so this is where other services can come and we can all work together to offer something more.”“We’re certainly not about 'if we can’t help then we’ll keep the person to ourselves', it’s about sign-posting, so we’ve built lots of relationships with the NHS and the council.
“If I ever heard any of the volunteers being really heavy about Jesus I would tell them ‘please don’t do that’.”“They’ll just feel loved, supported, cared for and safe- and that’s the most important thing.”
