The Grade II listed building is currently being converted into flats
These images show how a once grand building which employed hundreds of people had deteriorated, but plans are in place to save the building.Today, the land has been developed into housing which complement the 1930s structure and permission has been granted to turn the main building into flats and offices. The developers, Clayson Country Homes, have secured listed building consent to bring the site back to life.
Planning officers believe both the housing and apartment developments will reasonably protect the site and buildings from further deterioration.Bruce uses a mobile phone to take his photos and insists he never breaks in or forces entry onto the sites he visits. He said:"I thought it would be a good idea to document in images any history I know or could find out about the locations. I suffer with mental health issues and find urban exploring a release.
"It would be nice to see the buildings saved. Pearce Leather is being converted into apartments so it's nice to see that saved. Some buildings are beyond saving.
