The former Boeing employee claimed the company's manufacturing processes for its 787 Dreamliner aircraft were not up to standardJohn Barnett, 62, died from a “self-inflicted” wound on Saturday, the Charleston County coroner in South Carolina confirmed.that his client had been in the middle of a whistleblower lawsuit against Boeing when he was “tragically” found dead.
News of his death came on the same day that at least 50 passengers were injured when a 787-9 aircraft heading from Sydney, Australia, to Auckland, New Zealand, Mr Barnett said he was concerned about “jobs not being completed properly, inspection steps being removed”. He told TMZ he feared the 737 and 787 programmes “have really put a strong effort into removing quality from the process”.
