Principal Analyst, Mobility & VR, Anshel Sag explains the features packed into the new Intel Core Ultra (a.k.a. Meteor Lake) processors and what the chips mean for Intel.

The Xe-LPG graphics tile is manufactured using TSMC’s N5 process node, a more advanced process than the TSMC N6 node used for Intel’s current Alchemist family of discrete Arc graphics products. This should yield even better power efficiency and areal density, which are essential for a mobile form factor like Meteor Lake. Compared to previous years, more of the graphics and display IP is shared across different tiles.
The Intel Core Ultra features the Thunderbolt 4 connector, which Intel announced in 2020 and has become ubiquitous for delivering external storage and display capabilities in laptops and improving the docking experience. That said, Intel also just announced Thunderbolt 5, which brings significant improvements in bandwidth and power delivery.
