Hal Jordan doesn't know how to quit.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Hal Jordan's new Green Lantern series has been one of the highlights of the ongoing Dawn of DC line-wide initiative. Between being stuck on Earth, attempting to reconnect with Carol Ferris, and discovering a strange new power ring, Hal has a lot to figure out — and that's to say nothing of what his arch-nemesis Sinestro is up to.
But Green Lantern has been just as fun. I'm having so much fun reading just the first three issues — plus Knight Terrors, of course. Yeah, it's great. And then even when we dipped into Knight Terrors [artist Eduardo Pansica] did such an incredible job. And he's another one where I'm just like, have I been living under a rock? It was like, this is so good! It's all so good.
I feel like what's so much fun about the book so far is that kind of joy that you're putting into the creation of the constructs. There’s that moment in issue two where Hal’s kind of playing up the “suspicious and cowardly lot” bit, and the constructs there are so good. There's so much humor here! And so much of your work, even in The Flash, but especially here, is character-driven.
So I have two speeds: ‘80s action movies and like, teenybopper romance. There's that moment in the first issue where she looks up, and she's like, “Oh no.” The ex-boyfriend is back. The guy you're almost defenseless against, in a way. But I also liked the idea of twisting the trope a little bit. [Hal and Carol have] been doing the on and off thing for years and years and years and years. And I am definitely leaning into that.
