An investigation is set to take place after a prisoner died in Glasgow.
Alexander Jamieson fell ill while he was in custody at HMP Barlinnie in the East End.A fatal accident inquiry will begin next month after the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service lodged a first notice.An FAI is a mandatory process for when a prisoner dies in custody and is used to determine the cause and circumstances of the death.
Procurator Fiscal Andy Shanks, who leads fatalities investigations for COPFS, said: “The Lord Advocate considers that the death of Alexander Jamieson occurred while in legal custody and as such a Fatal Accident Inquiry is mandatory.
