My only choices for internet service in my area are Grande and Spectrum. I do have a Roku and subscribe to several streaming services.
The thought occurred to me that I could get a 5G phone dedicated to providing a Hotspot with an unlimited data subscription for far less than what I’m currently paying Spectrum and connect my smart TV and Roku via Wi-Fi to this Hotspot. Is the bandwidth now sufficient to do this? The primary reason I still have cable is because my wife loves the DVR. If I could find a solution for this, I’d make the switch. There are some 5G home internet options from Verizon and T-Mobile that do not have data caps or contracts.I checked my address in Dallas, and I am not in the coverage area for Verizon or T-Mobile 5G home internet service, but both companies said to check back because their coverage areas are always growing.

Those plans are in the $50 to $70 per month range, but the prices can vary if you’re also a wireless customer and you can bundle with autopay.As for a digital video recorder for cord-cutters, you’ll really only need to record content if you are receiving free, over-the-air local channels.
