Fernando Alonso has stated he’s keen to stay at Aston Martin for a few more years, but do they want him?Being the oldest driver on the grid has hardly stopped Alonso from performing at the top. In fact, he now sits third in the driver’s standings after seven races, just behind the Red Bulls.
2023 is Alonso’s 20th season racing in Formula 1, his career spanning 22 years. The Spaniard currently holds the record of the most Grand Prix starts of any other driver, a record he’s looking to extend even past this year.Alonso has recently commented on his plans to remain with the British team for a few more years. When asked for comments on his statement, Aston Martin’s Team Principal Mike Krack seemed enthusiastic, if coy, about the future.
“We don’t think so much about that, to be honest, as you guys know. We take it race by race, and we try to do well every race. It’s nice to hear that but we didn’t think too much about it yet. Let’s make it happen.”
