Flights from Liverpool were introduced this year
Despite being in the British Isles, you will immediately get that abroad feeling without travelling thousands of miles by visiting this island an hour away from Liverpool.
Steeped in history with the beautiful harbour, cobbled streets and idyllic beaches, Aurigny now operates three weekly flights from Liverpool to Guernsey. The airline is based in the Channel Islands and also flies to destinations across Europe, as well as the mainland United Kingdom. Netflix film The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, starring Lily James and Glen Powell, has also brought much tourism to the island. First up is St Peter Port - a charming town with cobbled streets, colourful bunting and floral baskets decorating the historic buildings.
Around the town are many nods to Victor Hugo, who wrote Les Misérables while exiled in Guernsey over 150 years ago and you can even visit his home, Hauteville House, which is a work of art in itself. If you're a history lover, the German Underground Hospital and Ammunition Store, the largest structural reminder of the German Occupation existing in the Channel Islands, is a must visit.
Guernsey Airport is the largest airport in the Bailiwick of Guernsey. A transfer from the airport to the centre of St Peter Port takes around 15 minutes.
